Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program (CCSEP)

In 1973, the Canada-China Scholars' Exchange Program (CCSEP) was established as a collaborative effort between Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai and Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau. This official exchange program aims to enrich the knowledge and understanding of Canada among Chinese scholars and professionals.

The program typically awards scholarships for research periods lasting four to 12 months in Canada, without requiring formal enrollment at a Canadian university. Recipients are designated as visiting scholars and are expected to commence their program in Canada before the end of February 2024.

Eligibility for the program extends to full-time, permanent teaching or research staff, master's or doctoral graduates, and non-academics in China holding senior professional positions, such as judges, broadcasters, and economists. The objective is for participants to return to China equipped to make distinctive contributions to their respective fields and promote mutual understanding between Canada and China.

Preference in the selection process is given to candidates in specific fields, including public policy analysis and administration, business management, economics/finance/banking, environmental protection, law, education, and public health policy and management.

The administrators of the CCSEP are the China Scholarship Council and the Canadian Embassy in China. Those interested in applying should refer to the China Scholarship Council's website (available in Chinese only) for detailed application information: [https://www.csc.edu.cn/chuguo/s/2578](https://www.csc.edu.cn/chuguo/s/2578).
